June 30th, 2009Notes on running a business….
June 30th, 200924 emails later- after tearing apart every email, demanding a full breakdown detailing every minute of the quote and literally ripping sections out of my contract- the client now decides that my dirt cheap quote is too high.
How does one market themselves? How do you market yourself without it looking like a neon side on your head, “Difficult Clients Wanted?”
definitely a Gogo…
June 20th, 20091. I think this photo is proof that she takes after her favorite aunt. Don’t believe me? Try and find one photo of me where I’m not making this exact face or something equally weird. It’s like a knee-jerk reaction to a camera pointed at me. Can’t help it. Well here you go. Definitely takes after me.
2. Not only is great at making weird faces, this little superstar has learned how to pull herself up in her crib.

June 4th, 20092 more…because i can’t resist
May 21st, 2009I call this photo the thinker because she has an expression on her face like you and her just had a long talk and you finally came around to her way of thinking. And she says to you, “Yes, my young one, I think you have finally learned the way things are…” or something equally corny.
and this one because she just looks so excited and jubilant.
random thoughts….
May 21st, 20091. I saw this online today and I’m wondering if this is a better option for me than trying to get personal wireless installed whereever i live in South America. definitely more mobile and less red tape. and since it supports my belief in universal wireless, I’m a fan. Have I mentioned lately how excited I am to be heading south soon?
2. I am starting to think the pigeons have a personal vendetta against me. The first time one pooped on the doorhandle of my car could be coincidence but a second time two days later? I think they must have heard me when I said they were the “rats of the sky.”
3. and a little something more for you…How does that child not fall over from the sheer weight of that head, those ears and hair, bib, and everything else on top?

a little summin’ summin’ to make you smile
May 16th, 2009When gmail first came out, I had heard that it was a decent email provider so I snagged up an email address in the early days and was able to get an email with just my first name. Being as there may be a few other Kristylee’s in the world, I often get emails from people claiming to me my mom or my best friend or asking if I’m so-in-so’s girlfriend. Generally I inform that them that I am not the Kristylee they are looking for and that perhaps they got something wrong.
But this one, I think I’m going to keep.
No idea who it is that sent it and at first I thought it was spam. (If I were a spammer I would totally send stuff like this.) The text said that this was the reason you should always “twirl around in front of the mirror before leaving the house.” I think it’s safe to say that this is a good principle.

the final countdown of my twenties
May 9th, 2009In preperation for my move home, I’ve been cleaning out my childhood room, a task that I have put off for oh, about ten years. I don’t think I’ve lived in this room for any decent about of time for about that long and years worth of junk, much of it not even mine, has accumulated. Apparently my family thinks that my room is the place where furniture goes to die.
Never in my life have I felt so old. I don’t even remember half that stuff, from what feels like multiple lifetimes ago and I can’t help but wonder who was that girl? I’d also like to know why she thought it was important to save Mr. Lambert’s 7th grade history notes and when she expected to EVER need or want them again.
But I’m also starting to get excited about the next stage of my life. This coming August I’ll be relocating myself and my business to South America. To live and work in a foreign country for a significant amount of time has been a dream of mine since high school. (I guess that’s one part of that girl.) I’ve been planning this for years and am so. excited. that it’s finally coming true.
The plan is still in formulation but right now I’m planning on going to Ecuador for at least the first three months. Get a small apartment for myself in earshot of the ocean. Little kitchen, hammock and wireless internet. I am also planning on spending a significant amount of time in Colombia, a place I’ve been close to but never been. I will mostly likely take a few weeks to travel up the coast of Ecuador and Colombia to find the perfect spot to settle.
Cartegena
Medillion (hoping to see Vince!)
Santa Marta
Perhaps Costa Rica, maybe Brazil. There is much to be conquered. Right now my time frame is 6 months to a year but in reality, there are few limits. If I’m working there, I can stay until I get bored.
baby-snatching!
May 9th, 2009Jaylee woke up before becky this morning. She was just playing with her feet in her crib so I snuck in and stole her. Uncle TJ is in town and loving getting to know her. Yesterday was full with golf lessons at 10am, soccer practice at noon, crawling lessons at 1pm and instruction on how to roll over at 4pm.
drawing to a close
May 8th, 2009Times are a’changing. In the next few weeks I will bid adieu to my NYC life in exchange for the much slower pace of my parents house. Half the time I’m ready to cross that bridge and NOT look back, never have to wake up at 8:25am to move my car. Never get woken up at 5am by roommates running through the house or neighbors doing…something.
Other days, I’m wishing I could stay just a few more days. I know I will miss my space and my apartment. I will miss my roommates. Lots of fun times we’ve had. But it will be going the way of my twenties.
That’s right. The cougar is coming out to play. May 23rd. If you love me, you’ll wear something cougar related or animal print in honor of my dirty thirty.
