thanksgiving evening…

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

I was walking down the street and a street bum wished me a thanksgiving.  I returned the greeting.  He smiled and kept walking.  After a few steps, he turned back and said “i’ve got some food, it IS a good thanksgiving.”

If only we could all see it that simply.

If you are an avid reader (whoever you are), you may have noticed that ‘Seek’ was down for a few days.  I decided to switching hosting services and apparently I don’t know how to do it very well.  We had a few problems, had to backtrack and start over. No worries, I worked out the kinks, and I THINK i got it right.  We’ll find out.  We did lose all the comments and you will likely have to reregister.  Your comments may be put in moderation the first time you comment but have no fears, I will be watching spam prison for those who don’t deserve it.  sorry for the downtime and welcome back.

I’m pretty sure there’s a baby somewhere in there

Waiting in my car for 8:30am street cleaning and an open spot opened up. I started my ignition, hoping to snag it but there was a car fractions of seconds ahead of me that pulled in. I’m not about to fight over it so I backed up and reparked along the outside lane, went back to my book. A minute later a third pulled up and waited on the other side. I thought there was going to be some road rage when the newcomer tried to snake out the car that had been waiting. There were some tense words about “being respectful, I was waiting, you can even ask that girl (pointing to me)” I was disappointed there wasn’t more action. It surprises me how cutthroat it can be sometimes.

I’m getting a little sick of shuffling my car around from spot to spot and having to wake up early when I don’t need to. I guess that comes with the territory. I’ve been back and forth to Jersey so much that it’s hard to snap a good spot early enough to leave it there for a few days.

Baby-mania

Newborns are not known for being all that exciting. But, that has not stopped us from playing with her anyway. I think she’s been in the crib all of 10 minutes because we refuse to put her down. Tanya likes to try and put her feet or head in her mouth. She also likes to squish her cheeks together which Jaylee doesn’t really seem to like. It kind of brings on the raisin face.

Anyway, here’s a few nicknames that have come up thus far.

Peanut (of course)
the munchkin
elvis
that hairy thing (she has a gorilla back for sure, i think that came from Jordi but no one’s taking responsibility)

Never in my life have I been so enamored with something so….inactive. She’s basically a lump of flesh. More pictures of the blob soon enough…

Raisin Faces with Peanut

When Becky was little, we used to feed her lemons just to watch her face squint up. It took her a while to catch on that she did in fact NOT like the lemons and learn not to take them from us. We were sad when the game was over.

I swear Jaylee makes the same faces. Her face squishes, her eyes become little puffy slits and her cheeks fold in. She makes variations of the raisin face a lot when she’s sleeping and a little restless(which is like whenever she’s not eating, she’s not the liveliest of creatures). It’s AWESOME.

Here’s a photo of her and I making raisin faces. Compared to her little-ness, I look like I have gorilla hands.

Just went in to see the baby. She’s beautiful…long and thin at 8lbs and 2oz. She has dark alert eyes and fuzzy black hair. Becky’s exhausted but fine.

6:37pm Just got a text….
