random thoughts….

1. I saw this online today and I’m wondering if this is a better option for me than trying to get personal wireless installed whereever i live in South America. definitely more mobile and less red tape. and since it supports my belief in universal wireless, I’m a fan. Have I mentioned lately how excited I am to be heading south soon?

2. I am starting to think the pigeons have a personal vendetta against me. The first time one pooped on the doorhandle of my car could be coincidence but a second time two days later? I think they must have heard me when I said they were the “rats of the sky.”

3. and a little something more for you…How does that child not fall over from the sheer weight of that head, those ears and hair, bib, and everything else on top?

I’ve just spent 20 minutes googling “nyc parking laws” and any other variation i can think of and cannot find a list of parking laws.  how am i supposed to follow them?  i swear, sometimes i think this city purposely makes it complicated just to piss people off.

Waiting in my car for 8:30am street cleaning and an open spot opened up. I started my ignition, hoping to snag it but there was a car fractions of seconds ahead of me that pulled in. I’m not about to fight over it so I backed up and reparked along the outside lane, went back to my book. A minute later a third pulled up and waited on the other side. I thought there was going to be some road rage when the newcomer tried to snake out the car that had been waiting. There were some tense words about “being respectful, I was waiting, you can even ask that girl (pointing to me)” I was disappointed there wasn’t more action. It surprises me how cutthroat it can be sometimes.

I’m getting a little sick of shuffling my car around from spot to spot and having to wake up early when I don’t need to. I guess that comes with the territory. I’ve been back and forth to Jersey so much that it’s hard to snap a good spot early enough to leave it there for a few days.

war on parking

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

This past weekend, we took a major hit in the war on parking in NYC. Molly put up a good fight against the thieving nighttime teenagers who were determined to get in. I’m quite proud of her. Casualties were a busted side window (now it matches the windshield) and a busted front door lock (which was already broken anyway).

Seeing as the little punks made off with mountain bike, I’m going to say they won this round. Nonetheless, the war isn’t over yet. They won’t get the best of me!

Papa Go, mechanic and handy man extraordinaire was able to repair the window making it good as new. The front door lock is going to take a bit more time. The mountain bike, I have some thug emissaries on the lookout for that. Holding out slim hope that I can buy it back for 50 bucks. Rookie move, leaving it in there. I have only myself to blame.

New secret for parking….

there are plenty of spots at 4am! Perfect. Now I just need to become nocturnal. Finally made it home after the craziest week ever. I have vague memories of what happened in Seattle, but it’s hazy. The week flew by. I’m sure it will come back to me in phases. Not that things are settling down. This month has been a steady stream of visitors and seeing old friends (why do I have to be so DAMN POPULAR!). I have two friends from Breck that are here now and will be meeting up with me tomorrow morning. It’s not like I just got off a plane or anything. Not like I have to WORK!? what’s that?

sleeeeeeeeeeepp.
